4 Outdoor Trends You Need to Know for 2017

Home design trends are reaching beyond the patio door and into people’s backyards to create living spaces that are tasteful, functional and well-designed.

Here are the top outdoor design trends to watch for 2017:

1. In the mix patterns

Eclectic, vintage and color patterns will be used in a variety of applications to add visual interest and depth. Techo-Bloc inspires us with checkered designs that mix colors and textures for bolder statements in the backyard. Industria pavers in onyx black and greyed nickel by Techo-Bloc create that vintage opulence you can find in the cafés of Paris while the Travertina Raw & Borealis outdoor slabs offer a funky pattern with subdued tones.

2. Geometric graphix

We’re seeing geometric patterns everywhere. When you combine that with a use of contrast in depth, form and texture, you get visual movement that is eye-catching and vibrant.  This characterizes the Graphix Wall, a spin on traditional outdoor planters and stone walls that is perfect for design lovers and those seeking something modern and out of the box.

3. Textures that stimulate the senses

Texturized products and luxuriously raw aesthetics are all the rage in the design world. This has inspired new surfaces and texture combinations in Techo-Bloc’s landscape stone product line. The new Techo-Bloc Ocean Grande slab’s surface was inspired by the imprint left behind in the sand by the ocean’s tide. Perfect for pool decks, this innovative concrete surface is also slip-resistant and stays cooler under the feet on hot summer days.

4. Against the grain

We’re not fans of faux finishes, unless it’s an improvement on the original. The Borealis slab looks and feels like wood planks, but doesn’t act like it. It’s made of concrete so it’s not fazed by outdoor winters, elevated humidity levels and UV rays; that means no maintenance, no treatments, no wood staining required, ever.
