Written by Daphne Dubois | Feb 16, 2020 5:00:00 PM

We’re looking back on this past year and reminiscing about the 10 hottest projects that came out of 2019.

There were so many projects to choose from, our team had a very hard time only limiting ourselves to 10. To create this list, we simply went with the projects we found were the most impressive, while taking into account the number of likes each project acquired on our Instagram profile. Like we said, this wasn’t easy. If you want to go check out the other insane projects that didn’t make this list, go check out our Instagram page @techobloc.

In the meantime, here are the top 10 hottest projects of 2019:

Create illusions using color mixes

Featured products: Diamond Smooth paver

This first project was designed by Ardisan, an Exterior Landscape & Construction Company from Ottawa. To create this very unique modern walkway design, they used our Diamond Smooth paver in Greyed Nickel, Shale Grey and Charcoal. The mix of these colors creates a very clean and unique optical illusion that really makes this whole project a standout. This was definitely an audience favorite this year! Use the surrounding landscape to emphasize your project

Featured product: Travertina Raw patio slab

This eye-catching backyard design was created by Imagine Design and Build, a Landscape Design Company out of Northville, MI. This project features our Travertina Raw patio slab. This traditional design also caught our audience's eye, especially due to the gorgeous contrast between the cream color of our Travertina paver and the red flowers. This contrast creates a very clean and elegant look. Go check out their Instagram for more inspiration : @imaginedesignandbuild

Create 'curve' appeal with pavers

Featured product: Blu 60 patio slab, Villagio and Antika pavers, Mini Creta Retaining Wall

This project was created by Outdoor Dreams, a Design & Construction Company located in Richmond, VA. This traditional backyard patio design features our Blu 60 patio slab, our Villagio and Antika pavers, as well as our Mini Creta Retaining Wall for the fire pit, outdoor kitchen and wall around the fire pit. Frame your outdoor space with pavers

Featured product: Eva, Villagio and Antika pavers.

This backyard poolside patio design was created by Premier Outdoor Living, a New Jersey-based company founded by Sean Collinsgru. This project features our Eva paver, a Villagio border and two Antika circles. This was another audience favorite, mostly because of the uniqueness of the Antika circles creating two separate lounge areas with the use of pavers. It's also the perfect example of how to frame an outdoor space without the use of walls. Go check out their Instagram for more inspiration : @premieroutdoor

Using scale to create unique designs

Featured product: Squadra paver, Blu 60 patio slab and Raffinato Step

This project was created by Showcase Stoneworks, a Landscape Design Company serving the Greater Ottawa area and Lanark County. This modern outdoor step design features our Raffinato Step, Squadra paver and Blu 60 patio slab. It's nice to see an out-of-the-box design when it comes to outdoor steps! Usually, people use smaller scale pavers to define larger ones. This contractor did the exact opposite, creating eye-catching outdoor steps. Backyard patios don't have to be square

Featured product: Blu 60 patio slab, Squadra and Valet pavers

Backyard patios don't need to be square. It takes a very skilled professional to create as many cuts as it took for this project. This very unique and impressive design will surely stand the test of time. This patio design was created by Starr Contracting, a Landscape Design Company based out of Avon, Connecticut. This very original project features our Blu 60 patio slab in Beige Cream and Shale Grey and is bordered by our Squadra and Valet pavers. Less is more

Featured product: Antika and Villagio pavers

Less is more! This expression applies perfectly to this project. In 2020, minimalism is going to be a big trend to look out for and it seems this contractor was ahead of his time with his design! This walkway project was created by McCosh Landscaping & Supply, a Landscaping Company based out of Sale Creek, Tennessee. This design features our Antika paver in Shale Grey, with a Villagio border in Onyx Black. This walkway design is very simple, yet it was an audience favorite this year. Achieve the ultimate rustic feel with our Borealis slab

We can think of no other product that would have complemented this gorgeous outdoor space better than our Borealis patio slab. Our Borealis stepping stone and retaining wall really tie in beautifully with the gorgeous view that this project overlooks. This rustic project was created by Next Level Walls, a Landscape and Retaining Wall Company based out of Kelowna, British Columbia. Our Borealis patio slab was used to create the fireplace wall, as well as the stepping stones. Another example that simplicity is sometimes the best policy.
